The National League for Democracy and Myanmar government have announced in a press release the date for their elections.The Myanamar government said about the NLD that they, “appreciate their cooperation in moving forward to build a safe and prosperous country.”

Yangon, Burma – The National League for Democracy is happy to announce that the military government and the NLD have settled on a date for the upcoming elections. The military government previously postponed the elections after martial law was declared. The elections will be held December 19, 2015. Negotiations will continue to ensure that the elections will be free and fair for the Burmese people. We hope that the sign of good faith on the part of the military government will give hope to the ethnic minorities and pro-democracy protesters throughout Burma and will decrease violence in the region.
