Turkish Government Raises Public Health Warning Level to 1 in Refugee Camps

31 fatalities have been reported so far in Turkish refugee camps. This marks an immediate raising to the Public Health Warning Level 1. This level is implemented as soon as 30 fatalities are reported. The government has escalated the situation to the State Council.

The Refik Saydam Hygiene Center wants to stress that the fatalities are confined to the refugee camps. The camps have been quarantined to prevent the spread of the disease to the rest of Turkey.

There are confirmed lab results of Polio and Influenza Type A virus circulating the camps. More testing is to be completed.

The Refik Saydam Hygiene Center would like to remind citizens of common cold fighting practices:

– If you are sick, stay home

– Cover your cough

– Wash your hands frequently
