Gov. Rick Perry of Texas has stated in a blog post that he thinks that the Sinaloa cartel is responsible for the attacks Friday on both Las Vegas and Acapulco.
“Connections between the Sinaloa cartel and the tragedies in Las Vegas and Acapulco cast serious doubt as to whether our current open border system is the most effective policy,” Perry wrote on the blog.
He goes on to question whether “open borders are the best options during this time of extreme risk.”
FBI, CIA and Department of Defense have declined comment on whether Sinaloa is responsible for the attacks.
In other reporting on the attacks, Mexico National reports it has met with the Sinaloa’s arch rival cartel the Zetas, who deny any responsibility for Friday’s attacks. The Sinaloa have been mentioned by Mexican police as likely suspects in the attacks, along with an alleged Department of Homeland Security mole.
