Mexico to implement more security in state of Chiapas

The Secretariat of Public Safety has decided to push a more visible security presence in the state of Chiapas, in particular the cities of Comitan de Rodriguez, Tapachula, and Motozintla de Mendoza, according to Mexico National’s website.

The Mexican Police said in a press release that the move is to “maintain peace and prevent potential violence.”

“It is important to us that our citizens see our presence and are assured of our efforts to protect their livelihood,” senior operations officer Bakhadures said.

The move comes after the Mexican National Army sent 200 troops to Juarez to ensure safety of businesses and citizens.
