President Felipe de Jesus Calderon said he is willing to provide aid to the United States in response to the bombings in Las Vegas.
“Our hearts go out to the American people who have lost their lives. It was a tragedy.”
President Calderon said he met with President Barack Obama that the United States is also prepared to help Mexico.
Calderon cited $10 billion investment between Mexico and the U.S. to fight violent drug cartels as an example of their close relationship.
“We have made great progress, but we have also learned, as I believe also have our north american consulates, that terrorist attacks can be almost impossible to prevent.
“But, we are taking steps to ensure the safety of not only our people but of visitors and foreigners who are in our country.”
President Calderon was elected in July 2, 2006. He will be up for re-election in July 1, 2012.
