Cartel turf war interrupted in Central Mexico

In rural Central Mexico, the Secretariat of Public Security interrupted a cartel turf war between the Sinaloans and the Zetas. This area has been a point of contention between rival cartels for quite some time.

Seven Sinaloans were found dead and three Zeta drug traffickers were detained at about 1 a.m.

Mexico National reports that the Zetas met with that news organization and denied any responsibility for Friday’s attacks, which have been blamed on the Sinaloans by both Mexican National Police and Texas Gov. Rick Perry.

In Las Vegas and in Washington, no information is available on possible indentities of attackers other than two people shot dead by police were American citizens from El Paso and Houston, respectively.
