Japan identifies high levels of radiation in sea

The government of Japan says it has identified a higher than normal level of radiation in the Sea of Japan following reports of a substantial radiation leak from the reactor at Yongbyon, North Korea, almost 24 hours ago.

Citizens of Japan are not in any immediate danger, according to the government, but boats are discouraged from leaving the harbor until further notice. Japanese civil defense forces are on standby.

Meanwhile, the governments of Japan, the United States of American and the Republic of Korea released a statement saying they are prepared to work together to provide humanitarian assistance to those affected by the radiation leak, according to the director of the U.S. Central Intellingence Agency.
